Director Windows Engineering: operations, VMware, ITIL, thought leader, hands on Job Description: This Director of Windows Engineering and Operations role is all about providing an advanced level of coordination facilitation, and leadership for Windows platform operations. You will need a powerful ability to lead technical teams to include hands on technical activities, lead service restoration efforts, and drive preventive programs. You will need to be good at creating action-centered strategic initiatives. You will need to look senior management in the eye with belief in what you are saying, and internal groups of technical and some non-technical personnel will need to understand what you tell them. You will need to think and perform out of the box as an enterprise IT thought leader, partner with business stakeholders, plan for 5 years and maybe even beyond, develop programs to make the system work better and get that knowledge to all who need it, and be the one everyone in the organization views as providing the best of enterprise services. Required Skills: -Being the kind of person others can approach with confidence that you will welcome them in a personable, professional and pleasant way because a lot of them will as either your client or your professional partner -Strong knowledge of 24x7 operations management -Previous experience with monitoring solutions -Overview of best practice for patches management, system administration tools, provisioning, and software distribution -Current technical ability to be hands on in Windows administration and VMware -Thriving in a fast-paced high-energy, start-up environment by staying calm and knowing what to do when the unexpected challenges show up -Sticking with those that report to you so they become leaders in helping you put the processes and procedures to work so that those become theirs and not just yours -Experience working in a functional service delivery models within the ITIL framework -Entrepreneurial abilities with critical problem-solving skills -Big-picture thinking and the willingness to roll up your sleeves to do some of the hands-on work to make the thinking become a tactical reality -5-10+ years experience in IT Outsourcing, preferably globally -International experience a plus -Some travel required Desired Skills: -History of responding to others communications in a respectfully timely way and taking it upon yourself to initiate communications, verbal or written, when it is time to do so, in such a way that everyone understands key issues, processes, and possible next steps -Broad range of technical knowledge with demonstrated knowledge of system architectures, inter-relationship of the infrastructure and application layer, and end to end solution composition -Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite -Knowledge of ITSM platforms such as Remedy -Insightful business sense and budget control experience to understand how technology fits into business goals; must know what levers to pull to achieve financial results.
