Job Description: We currently have a 6 month contract-to-direct hire role with one of our clients for a Java Developer in the St. Louis, MO area. Our client is an internationally recognized leader in system integration for large customers with sophisticated networks, applications and security requirements. JOB SUMMARY: This Java Developer role will be to help plan, design, develop, test, debug and deploy highly-available applications using best-of-breed Java technologies. The developer needs to be adept at handling new challenges involving emerging technologies. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide contribution to a team responsible for the design development and implementation of critical business applications. Lead traditional software lifecycle methodology practices on the team. Create design documents as required. Perform architecture/design, coding, debugging and testing. Define the integration between proposed development projects and existing systems, software and hardware. Consider and research emerging technologies to improve current applications, architectures and processes. Ability to write technical design documentation, perform code reviews and unit testing. Work in a collaborative development environment, providing assistance and technical guidance to less experienced team members. Responsible for system quality assurance and consistency with installation and security policy and standards. QUALIFCATIONS: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related field. 3-5 years of Java development experience with J2EE. Experience with Struts, Spring, JSP, JSF, EJB, Hibernate, ANT, log4j, Eclipse, JUnit, SOAP/WSDL and one or more relational databases, such as Oracle or SQL Server. Ability to mentor other developers in software development lifecycle practices. Current knowledge of application servers such as JBoss, Apache Tomcat, Websphere and Weblogic. Excellent object-oriented design and programming skills, including strong working knowledge and experience in using UML and design patterns.
